> no hpr20 sms notification w/ P800

I connected my hpr20 with w/ a back-up t68i and sent an sms to it while listening to an fm broadcast. As it should, It gave out an alert sound that I have an incoming message. But when I tried the same thing with my P800, it does not alert me of an incoming sms, it only alerts of an incoming call. Is this normal with the P800? Anyone with the same problem? How do you fix this? TIA to anyone who can help. BTW I tried a search, but no luck.
