Hey, Im new here

.
Ok heres the deal, I have a Pocket PC with Bluetooth(HP 2215/2210) I have a few questions as I am considering buying the Sony Ericsson Z600.
1. Would it be possible to store files on my pocket PC and access them via my Z600 (Pictures, Java apps)?
2. Would it be possible to send files from my Z600 to my Pocket PC?
3. If I bought a bluetooth dongle for my desktop that was 100m Bluetooth, would it work 100m with my Z600 or would it require both devices to allow 100m?
4. Would I be able to send files to my Z600 via my Pocket PC with just the standard file trading software that came with my Pocket PC?

welcome to esato.
I have an iPaq 5450/T610/Z600 so can probably help.
1. No, you cannot access the pocketpc files from the Z600 but you can access the Z600 files from the pocketpc (see number 4 below)
2. Yes, you can send pictures, themes and sounds from the Z600 to the pocketpc. Just highlight the item you want to send, choose send from the more menu and then choose via bluetooth.
3. not sure
4. when you pair the pocketpc with the Z600 you get an OBEX profile created on the pocketpc and when you connect to the Z600 using that you are presented with three folders, pictures, themes and sounds. using those folders you can copy items from the Z600 to the pocketpc. On the same screen you get a File menu which as a "send file" option which is how you send files to the Z600

5. If I buy a bluetooth headset can I use it for my PC (providing I buy BT dongle) and Pocket PC?
If so, Where can I get the drivers?
6. What is the best BT headset out there?

5. you will need to check that the bluetooth dongle you buy for the pc supports headset profile but I have yet to hear of a successful use on an iPaq. Maybe some other pocketpc brands support headset profile. Might be worth checking out the
Brighthand forums
6. as far as

goes you should look at HBH-35 or HBH-65

3. as i understand it a 100m bt dongle will likely fail with 10m bt devices unless they are within 10m. while the 100m dongle will "see" the other devices, they will not be able to "see" the dongle. the connection range of any two devices is limited by the least powerful of the pair.
btw - i got the z600 after reading comments from masseur and vlammetje and am extremely happy with it.

gelfen, yeah thats about what I thought but wasn't sure if there was a 2 way handshake going on for paired devices or whether the sender simply sends blindly with the pairing code and the receiver either accepts it or ignores it depending on whether that code matches (for the sending device) on its side. my guess is that there would be handshaking going on so it would fail.

The battery life on the T610 seems to be alot better than the Z600s :\.
Is the screen on the T610 really that bad?
I like clamshells but 2.7cm seems a bit thick no?

The Z600 battery probably has less life due to the requirements of the TFT screen, and a small amount due to the external display, but I didn't charge my Z600 from Friday night until Monday morning and it was about half left. As I often say... most people surely drop the phone on the charger at home each night so getting 6.5 days out of it (or whatever) is quite irrelevant. As long as it lasts a full day with maximum usage I am happy.
I don't think the Z600 is as thick as it sounds. I just put my Z600 next to my T610 on the table and looked at them both sideways and the T610 is higher that the back part of the Z600 flip and in fact comes up to almost half of the top part. Thats not too bad so don't be put off by that.
I also compared with an E700 last week and yes, the E700 is a little smaller but the screen on it is much smaller than the Z600.
No, the T610 screen is not that bad but I remember moving from the T68i to the T610 and saying WOW! and when I moved frmo the T610 to the Z600 I also said WOW! so the difference is definitly noticeable.
