Hi guys I thinking of buying a portable dvd player to watch dvds on the move while i travel but has anyone compared these 7 inch dvd player screens to the P900 screen?

What is the screen size of the P900 when in full DVD/mp4 mode cos im thinking of getting a P900 instead of a dvd player such as the Panasonic one for £150.

You need help!!!
Firstly you have to make the movies into files that will fit into 128mb MS which takes alot of editing and what is the point of watching DVD on such a small screen.

Ok convert your beloved episodes (friends, simpsons, star trek, smallville ....) and watch them on long trips or like me train trips home. But not Movies. Well maybe a few movies.

movies on the P900! considering the storage limitation of the MSDUO, i dont think this will be a good idea at all.

might as well buy both units, cuz the panasonic player wont be able to make calls for you

lts great to be able to watch your favourite movie or show on your all singing all dancing P900 and it looks more impressive than watching em on a dedicated portable dvd player, sure the screens are bigger on them but so is the whole unit, if a new firmware update ever did allow the use of a 512mb duo i would'nt bother buying a portable dvd, they are still way too big. You must be joking... surely?

What is it you truly want?....

A phone?

A DVD player?

Both?..

(neither?)

You will surely have problems with your eyesight if you use the P900 screen as a portable DVD player too often... and just think of the extra cost associated with the P900... not only is is around 2 -3 times more to initially buy (either sim free or on contract, taking into account the full cost of a YEAR's contract, before someone starts!), but also the cost of the Memory Sticks... how much do those 512 MB Duos go for (nearly £200 for the normal sized ones)... and how many movies would you get on one... and how much would the quality suffer?...

If you only want to watch movies on the go, get the DVD player... its the only serious option... and much cheaper to, especially in the long run since you can just actually play the disks as they are...

If you want a phone and movie player... then get both

If you want a phone primarily, and just something to watch movies on when you are a bit bored, being more of a toy than anything serious, then get the P900 (or XDA 2 which has a bigger screen)

(P.s. all of the plugs I make on here for the XDA, you would think i worked for BT, perhaps I would get commission, but it is a great device... there i go again)

@ KSE, well \"live\" video streaming is already available my friend? so its just a matter of time b4 we are all watching \"live\" TV programmes on our P900s, after all it would be better on a P900 than on an out of date piece of technology like a pocket TV, after all none of em are any good are they! Hi,

If you want to see how easy it is to convert a DVD to a MP4 or .3gpp file that can be played on a P900/P800 using a 2 step process have a look at this. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=231900

Black... is the P900 on 3G then... I don't think so... streaming over the mobile networks, is like much of the mobile techology these days (integrated cameras spring to mind, not to mention the supposed video recording capabilities!), a toy...

GPRS improves this, but 30 second to 4 minutes clips like BT's Fastnet, or whatever its called, looks a little feeble... and with a pocket TV, well you don't pay for what you watch (by the thing, and in so long as you have a TV licence...) ... i am sure i wouldn't pay (from) 30p for 30 second to 4 minute clips... especially since deals with proper TV companies haven't really come to fruition, so there ain't much worth watching anyway (although one could say the same for the standard TV networks on our "proper" tellys, which totally negates the argument! Lets all wait... and wait... and wait... for Sky to make a move on the mobile market (must happen eventually surely?)... at least you could watch the footy or MTV or summut on the phone... that would be worthwhile I suppose... but I wonder how much the subscription fee would be... overdraft at the ready!)
