> P900 "Out of memory" error
Bookmark topic
Just got the P900. Wow, what an impressive phone!
The search function is unavailable so I can't see if somebody has already posted this, but has anyone see an "out of memory error?".
I've seen this twice after installing opera and vrally to the duo card. A reboot of the phone fixes this, but it looks like the P900 is not cleaning up memory properly. Aside from a reboot or installing a 3rd party memory manager, is there a work around to this problem??

Quite a few members on this forum have complained about this phenomenon, but it is not common to all. For instance, I have tried to reproduce the error several times by running as many high resource greedy apps, but I have not been successful. About 4 weeks later I still have no issues with it and I have noticed my firmware version is a bit older then most that have been posted. You might have received a bad batch from somewhere.. Moreover, I have also noticed that users that obtained their phones through contract carriers have seen this problem more so then anyone else. I might be incorrect in this observation so don't qoute me on it. However, I still think its a bug only present in some batches of units manufactured possibly on the shift or manuf run.. I believe you need to send your set into service and more likely get it replaced. So far that is the only viable solution...

What other third party apps did you have running in the back ground when you were intstalling Opera etc? I have had my P900 for over 2 weeks and I have installed lots of apps etc but not seen any error regarding memory. I do use Task Manager to close down apps a few times a day. Why not get a trail version of this or Sman and see what is running on your P900. Also check-out the thread here about firmware versions and issues and compare yours with others.

Hello!
My P900 also get this problem, most often when i have been using the camera. I dont power off my phone very often (once per week) so after that i get the memory error. I think that the P900 cant shut down all of its programs correct and after a while you have to reboot. Itīs not just windows smartphones who needs Ctrl+alt+del

Has anyone else had this problem as I've got it on mine and am wondering what course of action to take? Heaven forbid that I have to go back to my dealer who just so happens to be Onestopphoneshop....judging by peoples commments I haven't got a chance of getting it sorted with them!
Cheers

I had the problem as well - mostly occurred after using loads of apps and then trying to take a picture using communicorder.
After installing Sman and automatically flushing all the tasks after closing the flip I never had the out of memory problem again. You'll probably find that you've got loads of apps still running in the background and using up all the memory.
By the way I've sent my phone back to onestopphoneshop because of the crackling music problem I had - flashing it at the SE service centre didn't make a difference - Got rid of all the Orange junk though...

...I also have this nasty phenomenon....to install V-Rally (Demo) i need to restart the installation 4-5x times....First i thought that it is a communication problem of the Cradle & PC but it also happens if installing the same soft from a DUO stick...
However: Once installed, the phone is perfectly stable and working fine. It's just during the installation.
I returned the first one after a week, became a new one, however:still the same issue...
Talking to a friend he never experienced any installation problem, BUT he belongs to the range of people who do not really install a lot of software (actually none at all).
Just syncing is fine and not a problem.
