Hi,
My P800 was bought from HK and it has the English O/S.
It's running the following firmware:
Phone: R1D
Bluetooth: R2C
I called Fido service centre in Edmonton and they
are able to flash the phone to R2D firmware for me.
I am wondering what advantages is R2D over my R1D,
aside from the fact that I can install the "P800
camcorder software" to capture video clips with the
updated firmware
Also, those of you who have updated firmware on this
phone, are there any instances where the update will
corrupt the phone and thus not power up. For some
reason, the tech from Fido warned me about that and
they stated clearly that they're not responsible for
any damage or loss of data on the phone.
If the unfortunate does happen -> I end up with a P800
with corrupted firmware/software, will Sony Ericsson
warranty it?
I asked these questions to see if it's worthwhile for me to update to R2D.
Thank you for information in advance.

R2D for phone is not the latest it is R2F.generally u shouldn't have any problem upgrading except that u would lose all ur data.As far as i know there isn't a corrupted firmware SE should replace the phone or flash it again if still under warranty.
ps use search there is a lot of threads about the benefits of each upgrade.
