I have just bought a new P800 (my other was stolen) and have tried to sync my contacts and calendar to it, and this occurs:

Error box
"type mismatch or the value 10/27/2003 in the conditions is not valid"

does anyone know what i can do or know what it means?

thanks in advance

I don't have a P800 any more but you are in UK and that looks like a US style date so maybe that will prompt you or someone else for the solution such as date format setting? on the pc or phone? but thats just a quick guess

Thats sounds like the solution, but i had a quick look on the new P800 and the settings are on 26/11/2003, how would i find what the settings are on outlook (the prog i'm syncing with)) i guess i need to find out what the "condition" means too....

Thats sounds about right.
Check the date format in Control\Regional Settings on your PC and in the clock section on your P800.

Make sure they are both set to the same Date format.

I had this problem on my D500 (Outlook 2000 sr-1 and PC-sync)

I tried the following
- ensured that the date format is the same (DD/MM/YYYY)
- ensured that the time format was the same (24hr/12hr)
- installed sr-1a
- installed office SP3

Then the following worked:
- changed computer to be MM/DD/YYYY (kept phone as DD/MM/YYYY)

I was moderately happy...I don't want to keep my computer as MM/DD/YYYY.

I haven't tried changing the phone to be mm/dd/yyyy.

If I could be bothered then a macro to change the regional settings...sync...change regional settings back would be sensible but I can't believe that should be necessary.
