I just discovered that the P900 can be used as a magnet. The speaker on the back of the phone obviously has some sort of magnetic component, I can pick up paper clips with it, woohoo!

most speakers have magnets in them though that one sounds mighty powerful compared to most in mobile phones

I wonder if it could cause damage?

you might scratch your phone if you pick up anything sharp I suppose?

When I use to have my Ericsson 388 about 7-8 years ago, I remember the speaker area can lift objects similar to and as heavy as £1 coin, even more.

How interesting... but yet another worthy feature of an already useful phone... you do realise that Sony will probably include this in the product description now... and you just watch the increase in sales
You should mention this in a few other topics too... you should offer an update to those who need to know what the phone can do... but did I also notice a topic about attracting the fairer sex with a P900 (not the correct wording i am sure)... just think of the effect this discovery could have on piercings... where ever they may be !

wonder if the magnetic properties gets stronger as you increase the speaker volume??

In theory an increase of power should increase the magnetic properties of an electro-magnetic field, that is unless of course there is another electro-magnetic field with the same wavelength operating perpendicular to the wave orientation of the initial field.
I hope this answers your question in a clear and concise manner
