I purchased a new Vodafone Live SE T610 earlier this week, this phone has a firmware version of R1L013. I have been reading through a few different forums and have found that the latest firmware version for Generic T610's (non vodafone live versions) is R3C002.

I have spoken directly with Sony Ericson and they have advised that I can get this newer Firmware installed on my phone but it would void the warranty of the software side of things on the phone. Also this new firmware will revert my phone to the Generic T610 software installed on all standard T610's (which I am actually happy about as I am not a fan of the Vodafone live button getting in the road all the time and connecting me to the net by accident)

I guess my query to everyone out there is this, is there any major improvements with this new firmware version and as such would people recommend that I get this new version flashed on my phone over the top of the Vodafone version currently installed ?

I have heard the new firware has some major upgrades with it such as all large pictures taken with the phone being only a max of 15KB in size due to new compression techniques used (the same quality is supposedly kept)

Have also heard that there is a 30% improvement in all phone speed and overall use of the phone.

Has anyone done this upgrade themselves and able to report anything back to me ?

For example , my ring tones on my phone seem to be louder than a friends generic phone with the same current firmware version as mine ? Will the firmware update do anything to the volume of ring tones ? How many ring tones are supplied in the new firmware version ?

I dont want to wreck my phone and void the software warranty for no reason.

Getting this upgraded this afternoon so any and all feedback would be appreciated

Thanks, I guess my major concern is if I will trash my phone if I upgrade my Vodafone live firmware R1L013 to the Generic SE R3C002. As I am not sure if the Vodafone versions of the T610 contain any different hardware which require the specific Vodafone versions of Firmware.

The latest Vodafone firmware is only the R1L013

Has anyone else out there had success with upgrading their Vodafone live T610's with the Generic firmware R3C002 ?

I've also read that some people have noticed that the ring tone and speaker volumes arent as loud as they used to be after completing firmware upgrades , is this true with anyone else ?

Hi there. can't answer your question on the volume there, sorry.

However, the hardware on Voda-branded phones is no different from regular phones. In other words, flashing the phone with unbranded software won't damage it in any way. It'll change your icons and everything... altho I am not sure it'll change your shortcuts all the same....
