Dude, When P800 was introduced early 2003, it was priced at RM3299 but this P900 is RM2999 so I think things have changed. But if you go to Sg. Wang KL, blackmarket P900 is priced between RM3999 to RM5000. Crazy! Rgds.

Bought my P800 early 2003 for RM2999. So if the P900 with minor upgrades should at least retail at at least the same price or slightly higher. Over the year P800 prices haven not dropped much, as opposed to phones from other manufacturer's, whose prices dropped like nobody's business! That makes the P800 a good buy (at least for me, as I am a satisfied P800 user who does not have plans to upgrade to P900 at the moment) as the price is relatively stable.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Dude, the OFFICIAL price for the P800 when it was first launched was NEVER RM3,299-00. It was RM2,999-00 and that was the price I bought it for.
So, RM2,999-00 for the p900 with the improvements is actually pretty ok! If you search the internet carefully, the prices in Singapore are more expensive as it works out to be about RM3,100-00 to RM3,300-00. But the prices in Europe are cheaper by about RM100-00 to RM200-00. It has been said that prices in Singapore are more expensive to prevent parallel importing into Malaysia and thus screwing up the Malaysian market for SE Malaysia.
And its way easier for Malaysians who buy the Singaporean phones (if the phones were cheaper in Singapore than in Malaysia), especially Malaysians living or staying in Johore or those who go to Johore often to just pop next door to Singapore for firmware updates or warranty claims and stuff like that (as the Singapore warranty can only be used in Singapore). It would be harder or more inconvenient for Singaporeans (who may have bought the P900 in Malaysia) to visit any authorised SE Service Centre in Malaysia as the majority of them are in Kuala Lumpur/PJ/Klang Valley area. There is none in Johore!!! And the SE Service Centre Malaysia would not entertain warranties from Singapore.
So, there you go, hence the pricing strategy. They want to discourage Malaysians from getting the P900 from Singapore. They can't really do anything about Malaysians wanting to get the phone from Europe, but what about warranty claims? You would be screwed!!! RM2,999-00 is not cheap but its not that expensive either when you compare it to the other prices around the world.
