Does anyone have any news on this notorious P800 firmware upgrade that's available for end-users?
About a month ago mobile.burn.com published a review of the P900, referring to an SE announcement about the subject. Although it wasn't clear I understood that the upgrades would be available for the P800, too. However, nothing new on the SE official page so far...

Well, judging by the number of views and actual replies I can see there hasn't been anything new... too bad!

As far as i know i think the R2D02 firmware is the latest and last to be released for the p800(correct me if im wrong) as this phone is no longer being manufactured with the p900 taking the mantel as the top phone as far as the UIQ 2.1 p800 to p900 update i think this is just rumour and have serious doubt if are going to do this even though a couple of thousand people signed the petition its not much compared to the amount of people who bought the p800, but the chance that we will see some of the benefits of continuing UIQ P*** apps being developed is great as there is a Camcoder about to be released that is better than the one on the p900 and will work on the p800 also with full sound and MSD record/save etc i think its philips who have developed this as a beta(really alpha) was going around months ago.

but in so far as New firmware for p800? i dont think so but hey you never can tell with so maybe??

You mean after just over a year that the P800 has been out to the market SE no longer supports it??!

If that's true I'm sincerely outraged...

Not that I was not going to switch to the P900, but still... to me it's just a complete lack of responsibility to the army of P800 lovers..

Just get a P900. The screen & size & new keypad difference is really noticeable plus it doesn't have to cost that much if your at a contract renewal stage i.e.

I bought my P900 fo £149.99 on a £50 contract which I can drop down to £16 (my usual contract) after 3 months so total cost to me is £252. I sold my P800 for £190 so it only really cost me £62!

If UIQ2.1 comes available for P800 it might be a chargable upgrade anyway (like Pocket PC 2002 - 2003).

Hello gentlemen....

I actually work in the industry, well, for CPW, and I read in Mobile News in an article where one of the SE bigshots were interviewed, and he said that the upgrade won't be able to be available to the P800, as it requires more memory,(which explains why the P900 has 16MB) and that UIQ 2.1 has been specially written for a 65K screen, so sadly, it won't be available to the P800.

Hopefully some genius at SE will figure out how to prove him wrong and do it! Although I have a P900, I still have my P800,and I'd love if both of them had equal functionality.
