Hello!
I would like to know how long does I need to charge my battery for the first time, according to SE...
After that, how long does to regular charging takes?
What do I need to do to improve to battery's life? What about drainning the battery to its end?
I know some of you had posted topics about it before, But from what I've seen, everyone is telling something different - from their "point of view".

Thanx!
Ido.

Hi Ido_al

The manual states that the battery should be charged for a minimum of 4 hours for the first charge.

Sombody posted on another thread to charge it for 16 hours on the first charge which I think is WAY too much. The charging circuit will stop after the recommended 4 hr charge from the instruction manual and change the light green. Charge it overnight when you first get it. I would also not recommend charging while your phone is in the cradle. It may be battery memory paranoia but its from experience. Just charge immediatlely after phone is drained. My battery lasts approx 2 days.

The reason for the 16hr charge is for what is called "trickle charging".
I like to relate it to a balloon.

Imagine that you're blowing up a new balloon. It's fairly tough the first time you do it, and there's always some slack. This is the same for batteries.
If you then let the balloon deflate, then blow it back up again, it is easier. This is because it has been pre-stretched. Again, the same happens with the battery.
Now once it's full, there is still a little slack left that you can use to fill up with a little more air.
Thats what the trickle charging does. Once the battery "claims" to be full, it switches to trickle charge mode. Now while it will say it is charged (and it pretty much is at this point) it will continue to fill the battery with whatever it can, whenever it can.
This means that there is more slack for charging with every subsequent charge, which means you can get more charge in there, in less time.

That's why it is recommended for 16hours, to get the maximum potential out of your battery. Then it's recommended you cycle the battery a couple of times just to make the battery extra "loose", and then it wont matter so much after that, as it will have been stretched to maximum capacity.

Something I have learnt over the years is never to trust a signal that tells you the battery is full....because there is always some remaining space for trickle charging after.
