Today at last I had the chance of trying out and prove what I have been trying to explain to SE along time!

The oldest firmware takes better photos than the new firmware!!

I have been experiencing this with my phone since I upgraded it from the first version to the latest R3C.

The pictures are also taking less space! SO obviously somewhere on the line there is a quality loss!

But not being able to downgrade to first firmware, I couldn't never prove it.. And since new phones come with upgraded version of the firmware I can't even test the phone from our store.

Today a person came in to the store with the oldes firmware and I begged him to let me try out the camera before I upgrade the phone. So I took the phone and in out private room I took some photos, then I took same photos with my phone!

And my result!!! (With no surprise, but at last I can prove it!) OR maybe I am crazy!

Photo1 OLD firmware

Photo2 OLD firmware

Soooooo!?!? what can we make out of this!?

And when I transfer his images to my phone, they take double amount of space! But in the computer they take less..

I never had the time to take pictures again with his upgraded phone, but the fact is that all new phones I tested in our store, phones with latest firmware takes photos that use less amount of space! And mine that was a phone with first firmware and I upgraded to the latest does the same thing..

I have cleaned my camera lence, and all that.. believe me I tried it all. .I can't get the same quality of pictures any more!

I know these pictures don't make a good example of what I have been experiencing.. I have som really good quality photos that I took with the firstfirmware, and I can't get the quality of them anymore..

Here is an example.. of a good photo I took with the first firmware:

hmm.. I better stop talking!!!

EDIT:
Both phones were week 17, so same hardware..

I don't know if it's my eye's but it looks like the NEW firmware takes BETTER quality pictures. The one's from the old hardware are a miriad of artifacts, and the new firmware still has some, but noticibly less, plus better colour saturation. What I do agree on is that the first pictrure you took looks loads better than any of the others..

From your examples - the new firmware took better (clearer) pictures, and measured white balance better.

I can just add that it is "big" difference between phones!

Me and two of my friend bought T610s to ourself early this summer and when we compared the images taken with our phones there were big differences. All had the same firmware R1L. Later we have also compared with the new firmware - same difference!
(OK, one of the T610 has been switched out for a GX20, so now I have switched friend

My saying is that one can only compare picture quality between the firmwares if it is performed on the same phone.

Oh, did I mentioned that I was the lucky one with the better camera in my phone? It is clearly visible in the display before a picture is taken. My friends resolution looks alot worse already before snapping the photo. It can't get any focus - all blurred...

so you think that Photo1.jpg is better than Photo1_good.jpg???!?!?

The one that says good on it has clearer and better white balancing...

And both phones has same hardware...

But I will test someday same phone with two different firmwares!

But another test is to download thos pictures to your phone and check the size thy are occupying, and you will notice that _good pictures occupies double the amount! WHY???

And even pictures from MY phone and my old firmware take double amount of space than my current photos!?

I know, I wasn't comparing the outdoor pic with the others, but compared to my newly taken outdor shots, the new ones don't even compare!
