Have you tried installing your MSI in another PC? There might be a conflict with your settings or worst, it could be with one of the drivers. Others have used the MSI , and have yet to post a similar complaint.

Better yet, borrow a similar MSI and plug it in your system. If it doesn't hang, then your device needs replacing

If your harddrive contains just the OS, it might be one of two things:

First, your particular MSI might need to be replaced. Devices working for the first few minutes and then just stops working for no apparent reason, usually means that it is going to fail sometime soon.

Second, some device drivers are not optimised for Win2k. Did you see the Microsoft warning, that the driver being installed has not passed their test, during installation?

hmm dont know about the warning..think the installer disabled it:p (btw i use the msi and msi drivers..so it should work)
might be the usb ..hmm wonder if i still got my warranty and how hard it would be to replace it

edit:hmm might actually be the drivers after all:
i still have the problem with that windows says my is not connected, even when it does work
i now got random boot problems and most of the re-boots happen when i start some sort of internet connection(which ive NEVER had before..and re-boots havent happened in a long time untill i did the recent format c: )
