Just thought I might give everyone a heads up about the link store in BrentX (North London).

Been there this morning with my daugther trying to get my hands on a P900. We walked in and after spending 5 minutes looking at their display (with like 6 sales people doig nothing but play on their computers and chatting) , I asked "Can I get some help here?". One of them came a bit closer saying "yes" with a look of "what the f*** do you want now" on his face...

I said to him "do I need to pay first before getting some service round here?" , and I was amazed when he answered "yep, Pay 10 quid and than I'll help you" , still with the same face!!

My reply was "fine , thank you" and I walked away with my daugther to the exit. While doing that he goes "goodbuy" with the rest of his pals giggling behind. Just before we got out i turned back , went to the cashier desk and asked for the store manager. The person who said that's me (I think his name was Nathan) reluctantly turned around and couldn't believe me when I ask him if it's customary for someone to pay 10 quid for service in the link.

I thought , Well he's a decent salesman , I can get some help now but.... He just went "I don't understand what you're saying" . than the guy who told me to pay the tenner comes round , saying "he was looking around , asked me for help so I told him he needs to pay 10 quid, Obviouslly it was a joke". WHile saying that he still had this hate look on his face. The manager didn't say anything , so the guy said "see ya" to me with the same f**ing tone!!

Now , If I was alone maybe I would have said something , argued or just punch that twat , but I was with my daugther during Xmass shopping so didn't want to make a scene. We walked away and continued our shopping spree.

Sorry for the length of this post , but just thought I warned anyone who goes to BrentX - Stay away from the link , buy elsewhere.

Cheers all.

you should email a complaint or give them a call or write a letter, to their complaints department or something. They should have one, being a large company.

You may get some free stuff for the poor service you were given and the saleman may get the chop.

trust me when I tell you that free stuff is not what I was looking for when I went in there. Friendly service sure WAS.

I'll certainly write a complaint and we'll see how it goes.

Cheers.

Nothing strange - all salesman in my country do that way, only if you're comin' in & sayin' you're goin' to buy an $800-phone they become "goodboys/girls"...

Pay peanuts you get monkeys, but just a quick point,.... lots of people don't want to be imediatly pounced on by a salesman.

Also i think they dont have to serve you if they dont want to, these guys get asked painfully similar questions all the time & i find a quick chat about some other subject first can lead to a refreshing helpfull attitude when it comes to the "Phone" talk.

Are you completely sure your original "Can i get some help here" didn't come accross like someone talking to them like you were more important than them ???

I have never worked in retail because i would be telling people to piss off on a regular basis

pachy,

Being the polite and quiet person I am , I was just waiting for someone to approach me. I even smiled when I asked for some help...

I agree that you shouldn't expect them all to jump at you when you walk through the door but come 'on - there's a lot between not jumping on you and being outright sude and un-friendly.

Cheers.

@ pachy
Totally agree with you! You're a good psychologist! This works in my country too but not anytime.

I beg to differ pachy, I think it is no excuse that they are asked the same questions again and again, actually they are paid by the company to answer those questions and if the don't want to do that the why on earth they took the job at the first place. I don't understand why in UK there is this culture of treating the customer like c**p, from corner stores to banks you get the same treatment. These 'salesmen', 'customer service assistants' guys are not realising that its because of these very same customers that they are employeed there if no customers no job. Also why no one is telling them that an unhappy customer will tell 100 people that they are unhappy about the service of that particular company. I always wonder dosen't these guys buy things from others and are they not getting the same treatment they are giving.

I really appreciate that you decided to post this message here and I really hope some one in the top management in The Link will read this thread. I don't believe they will ever take any action or do a goodwill gesture but you can be glad that they have lost a few customers.
