I've read in different posts that a simcard upgrade helps, but my question is...helpful for what exactly? In one post, it said that the upgrade stopped the resetting and/or the hanging of the phone, while in another post, it said that an upgrade helps save battery life.

For the Filipino forumers: Would you guys know if Smart has the 64k simcard available?

older sim cards requires more power which makes them shorten the battery life quite much.... but that the sim would cause the phone to reset.... nothing I've heard of.... but it could cause the phone to hang if there is something wrong with the sim card... but this doesn't have to be with just older sim cards, this can happen to newer once as well... even though it's very unusual that the sim card has some sort of malfunction

I have damaged SIM Cards that cause the phones to do whacky things, including reseting the phone.

Give it a try yourself, it's quite interesting...

I think it was around 1998/99 that they new sim cards came that didn't take so much battery capacity....

If a sim card is within a year old it will be fine. Though If concerened your contract (with voda/o2/T-mobile - Not sure about orange) is for the provision of the sim card not your phone so they should replace it.

There may be a charge on T-mobile but o2/voda should be free
