> Backup and Reset Question

Hello,
I have been reading a lot at several places that you should make a "first backup" file, when you get your phone (I mean, when the phone is pretty clean from files and applications).
I also heard, about people that have some kind of OS and software problems, that asking for a clean/blank backup file.
Why do I need it? Isn't it more simple to do a "hard reset" to the phone instead?
Another question:
If my phone is full with a lot of applications, and I'm restoring this "first backup" file, will the phone cleans itselt completely? (I mean, memory size and applications).
Thanx a lot!
Ido.

much better to do a backup/restore as hard resets can sometimes cause a whole range of problems.
