probably when there are too many people online that the search function is closed automatically.

yes, its quite intermittant although I seem to get it to work most times. Indeed I used it just now to find
this thread where laffen says he is waiting on some new DELL hardware which will have a new version of mysql on it in which the search facility is improved.
