okay, i'm really REALLY sorry for asking this question, but the search function seems to be broken or underpowered and i'm about to sell my nice t68i so i need help.

my phone is simlocked to an austrian provider. called them up and they told me it would cost me EUR 40.-- to have the simlock removed.

now this can be done cheaper, right?
i don't have a cable or anything, the provider guy told me they'd send me a code i'd need to enter to remove the lock.

anyone know this code? or if it is generated, is there a generator out there somewhere?

thanks for your help.

The code is unique to the phone, so you may as well give up trying to find one. You can however get the phone unlocked by some remote unlocking service (you'll need to buy a special cable).

Between what you have to pay for the cable, the shipping, and the credits for the unlock + possibility of killing your phone, you might as well pay your provider.

i guess you're right.

i thought that when one of those DIY programs can access some sort of database with the IMEI-to-UnlockCode-Generator, it would be possible to just get the code and not have that program short-circuit my precious phone.

thanks.
