I just got my CHA-30 Chatpen today and its so sweet, scribble away on the pad and click off it goes , works sweet with my T610 and Z600. Unfortunatly it dont work with my P900 (or P800) , some compatability issues between Anoto's servers and the Symbian OS. Ahh well, can't have everything.

I am so looking forward to my company OP's meeting next week, lol, writing away, and when they say, can you email a copy of the notes and minutes, I'll say yeah, click, its done already, LMAO...

anyone else got one of these? I have been looking all over the place for one, and SE kept saying its not officially available in Europe, and I nearly gave up, looked on ebay etc, and could not find one, BUT and I find this UNBELIEVABLE, I found that SE have appointed a official chanel for them in the UK through a comapny in Glasgow, no more than 3 min from my house LOL.

If anyone is interested in one here's the companies website,

I'd love to get one of these. But it doesn't work with the P900? What the freak is wrong with SE anyway? They make this flagship phone and it's the one phone with the most trouble and incompatibility in terms of BT. Or if it isn't this, it's something else with the P900/800. Why can they get BT profiles and other things to work with all the other phones, but half-ass it on the most expensive phone they make?

HEY! SE! Pull your heads out of your butts and fix the P900!!!!!!! Maybe SE should stand for "Stupid Engineers", or maybe it's not the engineers' fault, so SE should stand for "Stupid Executives" who rush the engineers and don't give them enough time to let them do their jobs and make things right before the product hits the shelves (which is probably the most likely case, IMO). Just burns me up.

OK, I'm done ranting.

So Floatlite, tell me, in terms of the Chatpen, what's the paper like? I mean, what are the dimensions of the pads? Are they pocketable or notebook size? And are the pads expensive? How many sheets do you get in a pad?

Just trying to determine whether it's pocketable and get a feel for how long they might last.

OK well when you buy it it comes with 2 differnet pads of paper, a set of 3M stickies, they are only slightly larger than std 3M stickies, and they are in a cool plastic case, they are easily pocketable.

You also get a standard A5 book which has 50 pages. You can use the pages many times, so its simple to get a load of time from a book.

A book is about £3 UK, so its cheap.

The paper is to all purposes totally normal, its smooth to the touch, but if you magnify it there are millions of dots on the page. Thats how the camera in the pen 'reads' the writing, it takes 75 frames per second.

I have been playing with the pen, and I am dumb struck! So cool is an understatement, it even remembers a page, and remembers what you sent to someone, and you can write in any colour under the sun!

All I can say is, if you have the money, BUY ONE NOW!!!!

I have always wanted one of these. But one question, I have read that some pen-software stuff have to be installed in the network. Is that true or do you just need GPRS?

nah nothing needs to be installed on the network, you might need to pay a small monthly subscription to Anoto, thats the server that all the mail goes through and translates the scribbles.

I'll copy you the details if you wish?

@one of one: chatpen doesn't work with p900 because it already has handwriting input built into the software.

@Floatlite,

Thanks for the input. That sounds pretty slick. I've had my eye on these Chatpens for the longest time. I'd love to try one sometime. I guess it depends on what phone I ultimately choose to own.

@Gelfen,

I guess that would make sense. Based on that, perhaps I was too harsh regarding SE in my last post, but it was based on more than just lack of support of this pen. However, (and not that it would be overly difficult per se) I wonder how easy it would be to send drawings and such with the P900 as it is, as compared to being able to take advantage of the writing fluency and space of paper and ink, then quickly digitizing that and using Anoto servers to fax it or email it that way. I only question this, because the P900 screen is so small, not to mention, for me anyway, it's always easier to write and draw on paper than it is on a small screen due to the added space and tactility.

That said, I'd still like to see support for the chatpen in the P900.
