Sorry. No sadly enough you can't. The battery runs on something that's called electricity, IR is Infrered Light, a light that's invisable to the human eye, so it's two different things I'm afraid...

Sorry DimGR but...
If such thing existed (and maybe it's possible, we never know...) it would be a hardware thing and not Software. Cos it would have to get a way of converting infrared beams' energy into electrical power.
Something like a Solar power converter...

Stick your finger in your ear to hear caller with new phones?
but yes, what you say Krubach is probably correct, and don't forget IR actually uses power too.

TSomeone have developed a kind of desktop "rug" that could charge any phone if you just put it on the "rug". It also could charge, headsets, laptops and other devices, but they had to have some hardware component (wich

had) for it to work.

Yes. I've seen it somewhere too.
(Just a wild guess now)
I don't know if it worked with all battery types.
Maybe they used that rug to magnetize/ionize the battery again, recharging it.

Maybe if you replace the IR with a huge heat lamp, and build a small generator into a phone....
