Help! I tried to update my P900 this evening through the web but failed to get past the error about having my battery fully charged and phone turned off. When i removed my phone, it would not load past the SE startup logo. I had to remove the battery to turn it off. I then replaced it and it played the startup tone, yet the phone would still not load past the startup logo. I then removed the SIM card and battery, replaced them, but even that didn't work. I tried recovery mode with both the phone on and off through the update service and that didn't work.
Is there any type of switch that will revert the firmware back to the factory installed one? Otherwise i am screwed. I live in the US and tried calling SE and they said they would not accept the phone until the p900 is shipping here! I bought it over ebay from a phone dealer in NY, but i have yet to contact him. I will do this tomorrow. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Well, I just sent the phone back to the company i bought it from. I probably won't get a replacement for two weeks. Hopefully this won't happen again.

@ freddyg
Have you consulted with the SE tech support? What did they say about the crashing of p900? I just wish they can give us some advise in order for us to prevent from experiencing this traumatic incident. Thanks

Well the tech support over here (US) was not very helpful. She basically told me to remove the battery and sim and reboot. Other than that , there wasn't anything she could do to help me until the phone is released over here.

This is what you could have done.. Flash the phone at a private dealer... The SE US site really have very little to no knowledge about their phones. I would have suggested that you ask to speak to a senior analyst.. I know for a fact that they have had P900 handsets to play around with for the past few weeks.. They get them to get training on the units before they are released... Too bad you had to lose your mobile, but that's the risk one takes when performing such upgrades.. I can totally see why contract companies like Orange won't allow SE to register them in this online update process...

I really doubt that any private dealers would have had them, as the p800 took forever to make it over here. When it did, ATT was the sole carrier and they offered it only through their online store. But maybe i should have called around anyway. Dallas is a pretty big place, so maybe someone would have it.
BTW, What kind of flashing hardware does a dealer have? I assume it is not available to consumers?

@Fredd
I purchased my P900 from a store in Phildelphia the third week of October... That's way before any place really started selling it in Europe... I purchased my first P800 in January in Amsterdam and my second P800 in March from a dealer in Illinois.. So yes, there are a few dealers that have the capabilities of helping you out... I just don't think you have the knowledge of how many vendors have capatilized at selling international mobiles in the US.... Demand is high here, but supply is low so its a good grey market for mobile vendors to get into here..
As far as unlock kits.. We are not permitted to discuss details on this forum.. I personally own one that works for the P900 so to answer your questions its available to anyone that knows where to get it and is willing to pay for it..

This is my first "grey market" phone, so i am really not too knowledgeable about how to obtain these things besides using ebay. Can you get better deals through these private importers than through ebay? I think the current auction price for a P900 is around $750-780. Also, do these importers obtain the merchandise directly from the manufacturer or do they go through an overseas distributor? Would it be possible for an end-user, like myself, to purchase phones from such distributors? I bet it would have to be in bulk quantities. Anyway, sorry for all the questions, i am just curious.
