> Ogg playback is suddenly terrible!?
Bookmark topic
I've put about 12 oggs on my 128Duo this morning (converted from mp3 to ogg) and now when i'm using ogg the songs stop for a few secs here and there.
It is like i am jogging with a ten year old discman!
With the flip open i see the upper task bar disappear everytime a song "skips" for a few secs.
Anyway, i have a darkblue magic gate msduo bought a few weeks ago at sonystyle.nl
Any suggestions as to what the prob might be would be greatly appreciated!
Thanx
ps: Sorry to have started a new thread, but search is down and i won't be having acces to a pc anytime soon.

Yeah, ony thing running was oggplay according to fileman.
And i keep about 2 mb free on my Cdrive at all times, and there's probably like 20mb free on my duo.
Anyway, i used cd-ex to convert mp3 to wav and then from wav to ogg vorbis.
Thanx for your reply by the way!

Thats exactly how I encode my Oggs and I am also using a dark blue 128 Duo. I get a little clicking if I open other apps, but it is OK 99.9% of the time.
Not sure what is wrong with it, try restoring a backup, or reinstalling Ogg play.
Sorry I cant be more help.

which version of ogg player do you have? try to get v0.96 or later as the skipping has been greatly reduced on these versions.
probably more important is to give your phone as much RAM as possible to use. the way to do this is to install all your apps, to the extent possible, and all your files on the memory stick. a 128mb MSD is very handy for this!
as an example, i usualy have about 8mb free on my c drive when i boot up, and rarely go below 5-6 mb when i have several apps running. thus, i rarely experience any hanging problems nor any skips with my oggs.

Thanx for your replies folks. Anyway, sorry l couldn't reply sooner, battery went dead.
The problem seems to have left after rebooting the phone thrice, it's just still a bit slow now.
When l have time i'll just download stacker.
btw i have ogg v1.something (0?)

Also, i'm not sure what the best bitrates are for encoding but i thought i used min 64 nom 96 and max 96 for about half the filesize of an mp3
