I've seen at least three sample video clips and a lot of camera shots, all I can say is its totally incomparable with the nokias and xda2's.. It sucks big time and just like the p800.... What is up with SE's cameras???!!!! Its infuriatingly bad...

Coming from a p800, I've thought of getting a p900; but found out the camera is of the same quality as the p800 or even worse, urghhh depressing.. now, I dont know what phone I should get... XDA 2 is good but expensive.. Nokias are sh*t.. sendo x is not coming out until feb '04, siemens' sx1 is the most procrastinating phone I have ever known.. Help

There is still no need for a phone to take digital camera quality photos.

These camera phones are designed to take quick fun snaps you would send on to your mates via mms.
So what if nokia photos are better, they are still rubbish quality... but they look alright on a mobile phone screen, just like a photo from a phone.

if you wanna take decent quality photos, buy a proper camera, we've been over this many a time.

Poor you. And to think that the P900's most important feature is the Olympus killing 6mp digital camera....but seriously...its only a 0.3mp camera on the back of a phone/pda for chrissakes!! Its not meant to be a serious affair, just a quick clip of something you may witness in the street or to send that silly little clip to your girlfriend. A Scorcese maker it ain't! You sound as though you need a proper digital camera with video capability AND a celphone apart coz you aint gonna get both for some time yet.

How many more times are people going to say this about the camera...?

For the job it is MEANT for, the camera, like those on all other camera phones, is adequate and nothing more...

Have you considered for one second the price that the P900 would be if SE stuck on the functionality and quality of a PROPER digital camera... not to mention the increase in size, weight and battery drain that this would bring with it... and with a 128MB Duo limit, multiple megapixel images would require you to also carry round a somewhat large suitcase to take more than 10 good, digital camera quality, pictures!

I sometimes wonder what people expect from it when you consider its size/weight/portability/price etc etc etc... All this moaning about the camera qualty brings to mind my biggest complaints with it... that it doesn't do the dishes, make the dinner or predict the winning lottery numbers ! (need i go on!)

I never said VGA quality wasn't sufficient for me, But SE's VGA sucks, the viewfinder sucks.. Nokia's viewfinder is a lot, lot better than SE's.. And the 7650's camera and third party video recorder are way better than that of SE's.. and to think that the 7650 was in the market two years ago. SE should have made some improvement on the camera part.. IF nokia can do it, so can SE ryt?

I dont think the p900 has even the slightest improvement over the p800's camera...

I am not asking for digicam quality photos, but at least like that of nokia's. I mean this p900 phone is twice as much expensive than that of the 6600.. its got to do a better job than that...

I am very happy with the cam on my P900. As Mixin said its meant for fun use. I have to say that you need to evaluate the P900 in the round, that is, by looking at all the features not just one. If you dont like the Pxxx buy another Smartphone.

Alfaromeo777 was obviously comparing the P900 camera with the cellphone cameras of other brands.

Going back, i own a SE P900 and i do think that some Nokia phone cams have better picture quality than this one. Then again, the camera for the SE P900 cam is meant as a novelty feature only (for me anyway) so this did not deter me from buying the P900.

BTW, I dont think the P900 camera sucked big time compared to others ....maybe just a little bit.

Got to say I have taken lots of pics even at night and the Cammera well it does the job, I have compared with Nokia 3650 and for takin a pic the quality that I have found is very similar, using Camcoder for video, agreed it is not a a comcorder but hay! you can certinly record some quality footage! 4 a quick laugh. all in all I have found Cammera to take better pics than my P800.

No complaints from me
