Just synced 500 odd names and addresses and the Outlook Categories aren't aren't automatically transfered with the name and address - eg Business, Personal, Enemies etc.

Don't want to go through each one on phone - would take ages.

Bug? Any suggestions?

Seems a bit strange that it sets ups the categories and then doesnt match them. I think I'd better check the rest of the fields using a dummy contact with all fields filled to find out which one's go across/come back in one piece.

Thanks for the info.

yes and if you have the PHONE (W) and PHONE (H) represents work and home but if you have more than one (W) and (H) it simply picks out which it wants to sync but doesn't sync them all. crazy!!!! better just copy the contacts.cdb through efilemanager weekly. SAFER AND ACCURATE>!!!!

The thing that worries me about this is if *sometimes* it doesn't work then over weeks/month you could end up with a severely corrupted contacts list. You may never tell exactly when it decides not to sync something - in either direction - field level or whole contact level.

I've had an original Orange SPV up to now and the MS sync software always worked spot on and was a lot quicker that SE's. It didn't copy every field - some fields are pretty obscure but what it did copy worked well - in both directions

I read somewhere that someone was having trouble with the calendar as well. Not good.

Funnily enough this is the main thing (apart from still not being able to get Bluetooth access to my PC working even tho the bonding works) that might send this phone back.

I think I'm going to run those tests.....

.....have now run some tests backwards and forwards with all the contact fields:

Middle name not copied but no field anyway - no serious problem there.

Home phone 1 and 2 map to homephone 2 and 1 - no serious problem but annoying. They don't seem to swop backwards and forwards which is good. Business phones/fax/mobiles seem OK.

Email addresses didn't copy initially but I had garbage in the field. Perhaps it was after an '@' sign.

'Other' addresses and numbers not copied but no related fields available. So don't put anything in these fields I guess.

All the other fields seem fine but not sure how many characters the notes field is.
