I'm trying to access the internet on my iPAQ 1940 via my SonyEricsson Z600
GPRS (very similar to the T610 so I'll be happy to hear from people who own
either!) over bluetooth. I have been onto Vodafone for ages and no-one there
really knows what they are talking about!

I can access the internet using WAP/GPRS on my phone no problem so I'm
assuming the settings on my phone for the internet are OK:

I have a single data account (CID=1) called "Vodafone GPRS"
APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk
User ID: user@vodafone.co.uk
Password: user@vodafone.co.uk
Password Request: Off
Allow Calls: Automatic
IP Address: Nothing given so appears as ... (just three dots)
DNS Address: Nothing given so appears as ... (just three dots)

I can aslo send a file (OBEX I assume) from my Z600 to my 1940 so I know
that they are paired correctly.

On my pocket PC I have a dial up networking shortcut for my mobile phone and
when I connect it requests that I choose a connection. The connection I
choose has the following properties:

Country code: None
Area Code: None
Phone Number: **99#

click OK and my PPC says it is connecting, the my mobile says its is
connecting.

Suddenly my PPC will inform me that it could not connect since there is no
modem at the number given. So I looked on Google and it seemed that I sould
be using *99***1# as the number. After changing this it seems to connect OK
but when I try to navigate to a page in PIE I'm told that "The Page you are
looking for cannot be found."

It is worth noting that at this point I have a small internet globe icon on
my phone showing.

Plese, can anyone help me get this working?

Cheers,

elziko

Ok, its probably very simple to fix your problem and the solution is one that I often suggest since many people make the same mistake.

While you can do WAP on the phon eusing the data account you have showed you cannot do internet from the iPaq using that same data account.

You must create a new data account, if you have not already got one, with APN = internet. No other settings are required in the data account although you may need to call vodafone to get them to activate internet GPRS as well as the WAP GPRS you already have.

when you create the internet GPRS take not of the CID for that data account and use that in the dialling string from the iPaq. i.e. if APN = 2 then dialling string should be *99***2# etc.

In summary you can only use the wap data account for wap. for email on the phone or internet from elsewhere you must use the internet data account, not the wap data account.
