> weird t68i behaviour? virus ? carpe diem?
Bookmark topic
hi,
2 days ago my t68i crashed (1st time, i got it since 6 months)
it freezed, then i had to remove the battery, then i just couldn't swith it on
it played the startup beeps, but the screen stayed black (although it was lighted)
i let it charge for 1 night and i could start it the day after
same problem yesterday, same solution, and it took me more than ten startup tries before it works
the strange thing is that i saw "carpe diem 1687" written just under the operator logo for a few seconds.then it disapperared
as im running antivirus tests on my PCs, it was desactivated from time to time 2 since 2 days.
so i reactivated it, synced the phone, and reset it w/ factory settings.
did anyone already seen that happening??
i searched the forum for viruses and "carpe diem" but didn't find anything useful
TIA

as boyi said you can't get a virus on a T68i, because it doen't have java so it can't run java programs and the memory might be too small anyway?
but that is strange though.

thx for the replies!
yes it is strange
my version is R2F004
and i just noticed in my AV log that i've been infected w/ qdial12 virus a few days ago, which is a trojan
but i still don't know what is that "carpe diem" thing...frightening
maybe embedded code in gif?
i didn't download new images recently
maybe thru wap?
about the memory...a few bytes would be enough..but how can the damn thing got executed?
i just don't get it
any info/experience will be greatly appreciated!!

Maybe a master reset will fix it but u have a rather old sw version so if u can upgrade it,that would be ur best option :-)

AV log : i was talking about my pc, but since it's synmchronized w/ lotus notes, i thought a virus could have make its way to the phone (i knnow it can occur when you sync a palm for example)
yes i know i have to upgrade my SW version
i already asked my operator, who was unaware of a new version, and proposed me to send the phone back to SE for 15 days..

Interesting story, probably a memory virus then but ask SE ( by mail ) too see if it's really possible
