I did a search through these forums and wasnt able to find a definite answer.. lots of varying answers but unfortunatly that doesn't help me
I bought this phone in Hong Kong and it has the t-zones icon, and the t-zones WAP profile and data account. The phone is not sim/provider locked either, which is good cos i live in Australia.
1. T-Mobile is an american company, so why does this phone i bought outright in Hong Kong, have t-zones crap all over it?
2. Does the phone have global warranty? So I can get the firmware updated in Australia?
Recently I've been trying to get webviewer to work, and found that it uses the data account with CID=1, unfortunatly the t-zones data account uses CID=1, and there is no way of deleting it. When I try to delete it, it says "Cannot be Deleted", and the WAP profiles have the edit option blanked out, and when i press 'c', it says "Not available because the current profile is locked". My Optus settings are in CID=4
3. If I upgrade the firmware on this phone will this t-zones stuff go away? and I'll be able to use my Optus settings in CID=1 and get Webviewer to work?
4. There is no way of altering the CID is there? What does CID stand for?

1.They bought em from the states but tmobile is found all over europe too.
2.i bought mine in france and i cant update it4free cuz they send me2france..they can do ět4free. I think worldwide warranty means that SE guarantees that u can find a service in every major town..thats all. if u update the soft i doubt u can get rid of the tmobile crap. Only2put a new soft all over again. For the other prob i just dont know.

T-Mobile is a German company with networks in Europe and the US.The brand phone was provided by T-Mob to their contract user, normaly with a lower price. It may have only T-Mob waranty, I guess. You can not delete or edit the pre-settings. You may try to add another wap profile for your Optus if it is possible. And change to use your Gprs account(the CID4) in the gateway setting. CID is just an ID assigned to a GPRS account. The real meaning one is the APN, that indicates the server to be accessed.

thanks for your help. I mailed a few authorised SE service centres in Australia and I think im getting the same problem you had, where they cant/dont want to flash a phone which i didnt buy here.
I emailed T-Mobile, but they just send back a vague reply saying they cant alther software on the phone and to talk to SE.

U can go to a SE service ( or a gsm service) and just reflash it! maybe by reflashing it, the t-mobile stuff will go away. But u`ll lose ur warranty for sure.

I am sorry to hear that you have problems with your T610. That phone was obviously taken off the T-Mobile network and someone has earned big bucks on you. On the other hand, if you got the phone at a really good discount, perhaps you should suck it up and live with the imperfection.
It is true, T-Mobile USA does not do any flashes, upgrades, etc. and they will refer you to SE Servicing Center. Unfortunately, SE will usually not repair your phone for free unless you are a T-Mobile customer.
Whilst it is annoying to have T-Mobile insignia and setup, why don't you simply add your WAP and GPRS settings, make them default, and select another homepage? With that done, you can forget about T-Mobile and t-zones altogether.

yeah, it doenst bother me all that much but just wondering how i could get rid of it. The phone was around $350 Aus, which is about 240 US. The best i can find it for in australia is around $650, so its still cheap.
As for the t-mobile stuff, i have no idea why it came with it on it. The shop looked quite ok, and it all came in a box with with lots of T-Mobile usa documentation, so maybe they bought the phone straight from t-mobile rather than from SE...
who knows, anyway after a while i'll stop caring

There you have it. A non-network phone would come in an original SE packaging, without any network insignia. T-Mobile customers can get that phone as an upgrade for $170, no questions asked (they can keep the old phone and sell the new one). For new customers it's free.
However, I think you got yourself a good deal. Besides, when you visit the US, you're all set to roam!
