Hiya mates,

Been using the P800 for n year and have now switched to the P900 and find that the P900 is evrything one cud possibly want in a smartphone.... except that there is no Wi-Fi....seeing that this feature wasnt implemented, i wud really like to know that is the addition of a Wi-Fi accesory possible....sumthin that wud connect to the P900 port on the bottom of the handset....

With the right drivers i presume that Wi-Fi wud be a gud possibility....wot do u guys think abt this?....or am i just wayyyyy off track?

Cheers,
Doc.

P.S. I await ur flames....hehe

WiFi would be great, however it is unlikly to be implemented as it would drain the battery too quickly. Most PDAs that have Wi-Fi have extra capacity batterys and still the quoted use time is less than half with Wi-Fi on.

well sure i can wait for the next SE phone....infact wud surely buy the next Nokia commie which most likely (surely) wud have Wi-Fi integrated but my question was aimed at the fact as to whether if wanted is it really possible to have a Wi-Fi attachment as an accessory....that wud be quite interesting....

I wud be travelling to the states to pursue my post grad in surgery in a couple of months n have heard that there are numerous hotspots in the NYC area....(someone from the states cud probably confirm that for me)....

I do have a Wi-Fi enable toshiba laptop but wud like to use Wi-Fi on the go as carrying the laptop evrywhere wud really defeat the purpose of having MOBILE internet....

Cheers,
Doc.

P.S. Cud someone from the states perhaps tell me as to wot the Wi-Fi tariffs are....sorry if this is a bit off topic....or maybe someone cud give me a link to where i wud be able to find this info....

Docc,

If you're on T-Mobile, unlimited WiFi is $19.99 per month.

WiFi sucks ! Got a wireless network here at home and it's a real pain to make it work, I hate it but that's the only way to share internet to the laptop. I made a test long time ago between BT and WiFi, took three different routers with three different USB adapter, no one was able to make a connection on the second floor ( with and without antennas ), took a T68i and a T610 and I could make a perfect connection between two floors, so +- 9m, at leats the specs of Bluetooth doesn't lie ... I hope BT will take over !

was just in carphone warehouse earlier, decided to have some fun, and asked if the p900 had wifi. the following conversation ensued::

me: "Hi mate, quick question- does the P900 have wifi?"

Dave: "Wifi.. yeah i think it does, hang on ill just check with my mate"

Dave: "Jim, does the p900 have wifi?"

Jim: "Wifi.. thats like that new Firewire thingy that the P900 has.. yeah mate i think it has it.."

Dave: "Are you sure the p900 has firewire mate?"

Jim: "yeah absolutely certain"

Dave (to me): " yeah mate the Firewire on the p900 has wifi all right"

me: "oh."
