I keep hearing like, "I'm getting a Z1010 when it comes out" or "I would get the T630 if it weren't so much like the t610", but in my situation.. the only way to "upgrade" or get a new phone would be to buy it retail (which would cost mass amounts of money) or to renew my contract, which is an extra 2 years of your current service to get the best price, even with that I'm not even sure it'll work.
Give me the 'low-down' on what you plan on doing when upgrading your phone. I don't quite understand.

Besides, the so called 'discount' that you get from the service providers here are small. Plus, I don't want/need those customizations that they load on their phones

I bought my p800 with a 2year orange plan,i sold my p800 after 4 month and now i have 2 plans at the same time. My last phone i had to buy retail and i guess thats better. the difference is that you pay the money once and if you buy it on a plan you'll pay it in one or two years.

Just move the sim to the new phone. I've been buying my SE phones retail off the web and moving my sim card around for several years now, since Voicestream/T-Mobile seems always to be way behind on the latest phones with the features I want.

I was locked into an Orange contract 'til April 04 - but wanted to upgrade/get out - Orange wanted their full retail for any upgrade - or similarly stupid amount to be released early - so I signed up with O2 and got a z600 - then transfered my Orange contract to a £10 month data only contract - don't use the Orange number now and will cancel that contract in April - cheapest way for me to do it !
