Is it possible to play games like day of the tentacle and sam and max with full speech on the p900? if so how?

I'm assuming you need the monster.sou file for each game but these are over 200mb and so won't fit on my phone!

Can anyone help?

You need to compress the sound files to mp3...
Look on the net for pocketscumm - its the pocketpc version, but the same principles apply, and it has very good documentation.

@electrichamster, thanks for the help - i've now compressed the speech file for Indian jones into an mp3 file and put that in the same directory as the game however it won't play the speech - could you give me some help?

Thanks

I had speech working in Sam & Max, but the game was unplayable on my P800.

Yeah, I heard that Sam and Max isn't playable at present (hopefully one day this will get fixed). I have been trying to get Indiana Jones and the fate of atlantis to work on my p900, i think i know what i'm doing wrong now, i believe i need the .so3 file and not the .mp3 file put on my phone.

Just did 5mins of research for you and came up with this.

You'll need this program:
http://arisme.free.fr/PocketScumm/binaries/SOU2MP3_v1.ZIP

Taken from a random FAQ:

Sam and Max Hit the Road
========================
Sound: music, sound effects and voice.
Sam and Max and Day of the Tentacle mark an
advance in design where the sound is stored in a
separate sound data file called monster.sou. This
large file has to be converted to an MP3 file. Arisme
has very nicely provided a converter program called
SOU2MP3_v1 which you were directed to get above.
It is very simple to use so I will describe it no further,
except to say that it will produce a file called
monster.so3 (NOT monster.mp3). Once you have
done the conversion, simply place the 3 files:
Samnmax.000, Samnmax.001, and monster.so3 in a
directory named: samnmax.

Day of the Tentacle
===================
Sound: music, sound effects and voice.
Day of the Tentacle has exactly the same design
as Sam and Max. Convert the monster.sou file to
MP3 as described above for Sam and Max, then
place the 3 files, Tentacle.000, Tentacle.001 and
monster.so3 in a directory named: tentacle.

Monkey Island 2:LeChuck's Revenge
=================================
Sound: music and sound effects. No voice.
Monkey Island 2 has only 2 files that must be placed
in the directory: monkey2. They are:
Monkey2.000 and Monkey2.001. The sound is
apparently stored in these files. There is no music
track like MI1 or separate sound file.

Indiana Jones: The Fate of Atlantis
===================================
Sound: music and sound effects. No voice.
Indy4 appears to be set up exactly the same as
Monkey Island 2. There are just 2 files to be stored
in a directory named: atlantis. They are:
Atlantis.000 and Atlantis.001.

Hope that Helps!
