I currently have a T28W which I am pretty happy with. It has good receiption here in dallas, and always has good sound quality, and hardly ever drops a call.

So all in all, I would have to say that the RF quality of the T28 has been pretty good for me.

I just recently got a T68M ($369 USD) because I wanted all those new and cool features and was pretty happy with ericsson. I have to say that although the features are cool, the call quality is terrible. It often cuts out when I listen to others speak (so that it sounds kinda like a robot talking) and even worse drops calls. It has R2B firmware.

Also, the wap browsing seems to have a ton of problems in that I often get messages like "gateway could not find the file you specified".

The features are great, but what good is a phone when you can't even use it as a phone.

Here are my options:

* return the phone (i have only had it for 4 days and i have confirmed that they will take it back)
* ship it off to get a firmware upgrade hoping that it improves the sound/rf quality
* exchange it for a T68i hoping that it has better reception (at an additional $120) - but $500 for a cell phone is getting close to out of my budget
* excahnge it for a T39 hoping that it has better reception. Actually I like the T39 as it seems very similar to my T28 which I really like but has the added features I want

I want the new features and the good call quality of my T28. Am I asking too much? Your opinions please....

Jeff

Yes, the reception is ok with the T68i, but I think it can be a lot better with some of those reception enhancers that have been selling around.

I’ve been having problems with this phone inside reinforced buildings sometimes (Outside, works great), but not all the time. Even my T39m has problems, but a little better in reception quality. As for my Nokia phone reception, well, they suck totally compared to both of these

So which do you think gets the better reception, the T39 or the T68i?

Actually, I am leaning towards the T39, because it has the functionality I want in the form factor I want. Its also a lot less expensive.

I don't want to start a war on which phone is better. Coz everyone would really say that MY (put phone model here) is better!

It all comes down to your personal preference (which should always be the case). Some people put a value on getting the latest phone, or a color screen, or the joystick. Some like the form and how it looks like.

The T68, T39, and R520 are functionally the same, except for form factor, promise of MMS and the joystick

Are you actually able to read this web site on your T68i. I see that you made the post from it????

My experience is that wap really is not that good. You much be using a palm or pocketpc, or even doing bluetooth to your laptop....

Gowin is right, I'd just like to add that the external antenna models have a slightly better signal reception.

Again, I said the T39 has a little better reception (especially in closed rooms).

@jkelling,
if you like torturing your eyes reading from the tiny screen of your mobile (much so, if you're using a T39 like me). You can view, and reply to posts at ESATO from your phone via WAP. If you're lucky to have GPRS, then speed is way much better.

I only do it (WAPping ESATO from my T39) when I'm on the move, and I don't want to bring out my Palm M505.
