Esteemed forum members,

I have an unlocked T39 which I've used on T-Mobile for the last 12 months, during which it worked fine. I've now moved to orange, because of a good deal I got at scancom.co.uk.

However my T39m will not now connect, it's permenantly stuck 'connecting'. Except for one occasion when it did, briefly. I've:
- Fiddled with the 'preferred networks' option (no preferred nets, only 23433 (orange uk), all orange items)
- Performed a master reset
- tried GSM/GSM+GPRS connection options
- switched between Manual/Automatic search type.
- another orange sim that works in another T39 (didn't work in mine), and my sim in that T39 (did work)

The firmware version of my phone is R3B, it was manufactured 2002, Week 10. The signal meter shows 3+ bars and the SIM works in the A55 that came with the contract. Can anyone confirm whether or not the 'no network' bug is causing this?

In short: How can I fix this?

Thanks

Alex

have you tried with a SIM from another provider?
your T39 probably have the network problem and if you find anyone willing to fix it, it will cost quite alot.

If the A55 picks up the signal just fine then its gotta b the phone. The piece is quite expensive2replace This message was posted from a T610

I'll try another network's sim tommorow (should've thought of that already really).

If that doesn't work then I guess that only leaves the phone. As I understood the no network bug, it affects certain firmware revisions, but I never found a definitive answer as to which.

It doens't sound good though

Thanks for your help.

It's the combination of my T39m and any Orange sim that causes the problem, a sim from any other network has no problems. Apparently the phone is blacklisted on Orange (and only orange), no reason is recorded in their database, nor is the identity of who requested the blacklisting or the date it was done.

I originally got the phone on Ebay (in Aug 02). I just checked the feedback of the seller, he's apparently 'Not a registered user' - meaning he cancelled the account or it was suspended by Ebay.

This doesn't look good.

Orange said they wouldn't have blacklisted the user for any reason other than the owner's request (lost/stolen), or it going missing when returned to them (lost in post/pawnned). Has anyone heard of Orange blacklisting a phone for other reasons?

Is there any process I can go through with Orange to have the blacklisting removed?

Or am I screwed?

Thanks

I don't know. Maybe try to convince them that you bought it legitimately on eBay(with proof), and that it's been over a year and no one showed up (or planned on claiming it back, since no contact information was provided when the lost report was filed) to claim it back, if it were indeed reported stolen.

Not a whole lot you can do.
