If I purchase a phone from Hong Kong (SE T630) Will it work in Australia?

Also, a friend of mine in Canada wants me to send him over an Australian SE Z600... Will that work over there?

it will work, because its tri-band gsm or something like that. but SE Australia service centers wont flash the firmware for you. A reply i got from SE also says the T610 does not have a global warranty, so I doubt the T630 would have also.

I bought my T610 in HK, and have just put my Optus pre-paid sim card in and it works fine.. but without the service and support from SE Australia. I could always go back to HK and get it flashed

Correction: They WILL flash it for you if you ask (in the light of language packs etc) but it will not be covered by any warranty..... in other words you'll have to pay for it

Vlammetje heh, I'll be more persuasive in my use of language next time I talk to them. I've only emailed them thus far, so next time I'm in Sydney I'll just head there and use my 'mind tricks'.

Even if it loses warranty I guess thats not a big loss to me since I dotn plan on returning to HK in the next year.. Any idea how much it'll cost?
