I did do a search for this topic but search engine isn't working...

I took my P900 off charge this morning at 8am , it's now 1.30pm and the battery states only 36% left , i've only had 2 calls and neither were over 10 mins long.

Not another P900 problem ???

it is normale for new battery's to hang the first time you charge them. The battery indicator show's you a full battery after 10-20min of charging but isn't realy charged.

What you have to do then is just unplug it and recharge it again.

Maybee this happend with you also, let us know if you still have the low battery life after recharging it again for 12houres.

Lithium batery only gets maximum charge capacity after about 10 full charge/discharge cycles.

My first charge understandably didn't really last all that long... (although this may have been because I couldn't stop fiddling with the phone), and it had been on charge for 15-16 hours...

2nd cycle, after allowing it to go completely flat and then charge for another 12ish hours, I got around 4 days out of it, and that was from what I consider to be average usage...

3rd cycle, and I didn't get as long out of it, 3 days, after a 14 hour charge from completely flat, although I did install a lot of stuff on it, and used the video player to test out my efforts as encoding (!), so perhaps this is excusable...

It appears to me that the phone lasts quite well just on standby, but sometimes when I use it, I can physically see and monitor the battery going down, which whilst a little un-nerving, for some reason doesn't really affect the amount of time that it lasts... strange... the battery also goes up a little some times when I turn the phone off and then back on a bit later...

The battery will obviously differ based on what you do with it... did you properly charge it first time around?... did you use it for other things apart from the phone calls?... were there any programs doing their thing in the background?... what is you signal strength like... in a weak area the phone will struggle to keep in touch with the network (and the P900 doesn't exactly have a brilliant RF reception, it can get a signal, but it ain't always as strong as it should be)... If you used the loud speaker for the calls, then the battery obviously won't last all that long... I have also heard of certain software combinations on the phone that can eat the battery... also, did you disable BT and GPRS?

From what you have said, the battery doens't seem to be lasting all that well, perhaps you should pop it back to where you got it from if you are concerned, or seek some advice from Sony, I can only offer my personal experience with it, they know what it "should" be doing!
