This may be a stupid question but has anyone ever thought of making a program that when u get a call to answer it all u have to do is open the flip and to end it close the flip, this is a feature on most flip phones, I thought this would be a good feature for the px00. Doe anyone else think that it would be a good feature ?

If any programmers out there that are able to do this please do it would be a simple process to do.

I do agree with you. I too wish that the P900 had this clamshell function

I don't that would be feasibile as the flip down feature would probably kick you into the PDA feature of the phone... If one were to implement a software to allow it to kick into automatic phone answer mode when flipped down what if you don't want to answer the call at the moment, but rather use the PDA.. One would have to wait until the phone stops ringing to do that.. So again, I don't think it would be practical.

Just press the end call button while it rings then open the flip.

or just when u've made a call and u want to end it, instead of clickin the end call button why not just close the flip?
SMan can close applications when u close flip, it must be easy to end a call when u close flip ?

the reason why you need to open the flip with those types of phones is because the microphone is buil into the flip.
this is not the case with the p900, so my guess is it would only reduce audio quality for the person at the other end of the line.

And also when during a call the flip open/close turns on/off the hands free speaker... that would have to be disabled, i think it is not very logical.

Generally speaking, things will only be introduced if they are of any value (there are exceptions to this of course!)

What useful purpose would the open flip - answer call function really bring... i cannot see the point... unless, of course people like speaking into a blank piece of plastic, when they don't need to... isn't it easier to press 1 button to answer or end a call, than open the flip of the P900...

I guess, as has been stated, the PDA/Phone switching would be affected also... otherwise, I have no doubt that Sony may have offered this in the design of the phone... to sort of win over some potential flip phone users...

wel, lemme get off topic here a bit. just want to share a funny incident reg open and close flip...

a friend's dad just bought a p800 and knowing that i had one, consulted with me why his phone is acting funny. whenever he receives a call, he always opens the flip and answers. then he kept complaining as to why the speaker is SOOO LOUD that it hurts his ear and the people nearby can clearly hear what the person at the other end of the line is saying. after this, i just could not help but suppress my laugh! i mean, opening the flip activates the speaker phone function and he is really bothered with this.

HAHA!
