The only way to do it is to go to a SE service centre and have the firmware reflased

NO
As the startup/shutdown are on the ROM (Read Only Memory) drive
Please see my above post

Using the file manager you can see what's on the ROM drive. There are 2 MP4 files which play the startup\shutdown O2 vidoes.
What "excuse" would you use in the SE centre for this? Has anyone tried it before?
Cheers.

I find SE centers have no problem giving the latest firmware, why would you need an "Excuse" the firmware is updated to correct things, its only reasonable to get it put on your phone.

O2 handsets do have the latest firmware, i guess that updating the firmware via the web would not work?

Does vodafone also use the latest FW? I get a lot of memory errors with my brand new vodafone P900...
Also, are there any SE service centers in Central london, where i could get the phone reflashed?
