Hello this is Bjerkebanen here!
Back in early sptember this year i visited Sydney! Wicked nice place i must say
When i was there i purchased a Vodafone no plans prepay sim! And it seemd to work fine in my T610. Also the GPRS symbol was showing. So i got the acounts settings from vodafone to enabel gprs use. But no matter what i did i got the meassage displaying on my phone "gprs parameters not suported" This was very odd coz all other places i visited on this earth i never had this problem. So i decided to go to a vodafone shop and complain. But they just said: Is this a vodafone handset? And i said no its a norwegian one. Oh maybe thats why! I dont know i can send it in to service. Thats all i can do. And of corse that i coudent do coz then i woudent have any phone. So i left the shop on the verge of crying!
So now i guess my question is: Is there anyone who manage to use there T610 with vodafone in Australia? A sim free t610. And also im going back to Sydney the 1 of march! 81 days left
Will my prepaid sim still be valid or do they delete it?

I've used my Sweden bought T610 in Sydney (and Melbourne, Brisbane and Townsville) on vodafone and of course it works fine.
GPRS parameters not supported usually means that you do not have GPRS enabled by vodafone (even if the phone is showing that GPRS is available on the network).

obviously you need to call Vodafone and get them to enable it. Its possible that its not supported on that pre paid but I cannot tell you that.

Are you sure you had the right parameters set on your phone? If you had the filled in gprs symbol then you were subscribed to it. I will be there next week and will check it out. :D

no, not just the settings, they actually have to activate it on your account usually but I am not sure what happens with prepaid as I only use pay monthly sims...
sorry if I seemed abrupt but I just assumed that if I said that Vodafone probably hasn't enabled GPRS that you would know you have to call them to get it enabled.
trouble is you prob can't do that until you get there and actually determine if the sim has expired or not. Can't remember their top up rules though the vodafone au website might have some details on that.

this thread though they never said if the solution there worked
edit: and yes, GSM1 is correct. If the GPRS symbol was filled you are subscribed and should be able to use the GPRS. Do you recall if it was filled or hollow?

Mate, you might want to give them a call (methinks it could be 1555 from your mobile - it might cost you not sure on prepaid) or pop back into a store and try to get it sorted again.
The Vodafone people are very hit or miss - you might have someone very knowledgeable and sometimes you get someone who knows FA and you want to push them aside and have a go at the computer yourself.
They have also outsourced their tech department (i think). I recently had problems with my GPRS and they said it was because I didn't have a T610 Vodafone Live headset! And suggested that I should get a Live! headset so I would have the Vodafone settings installed. (Yes yes). I just hung up and dialled tech support again hoping I got a different person...
Oh also the VF website also has an online service which sends gprs settings directly to your phone.
