Not far behind Nokia!

I wish statistics would be done on actual sales of phones rather than just on shipping!
I suspect that Nokias sales figures would actually be considerably lower than their shipping figures as they send out far more phones than there is a demand for.
For example many shops can still sell you a 'new' 7650, even though it was discontinued by Nokia some time ago, as they remain unsold in warehouses!

yes it seems that SE has been doing quite well. however, the comparison/competition with nokia's sales is getting really tiring. more importantly, i don't think that SE will ever catch up, let alone beat nokia's sales figures. it seems to me that the reason for this is quite simple: nokia concentrates on the mass market, and in recent months, it seems like it is putting a lot of effort into the ultra low-end market, with the 2100, etc., targeted at first time users in less devloped countries.

SE, on the other hand, seems to focus its efforts on the upper-mid to top end of the market. it doesn't seem to me that they are interested in the nokia 2100 market too much. so when i usually see carrier ads targeted at the low-end users, they are usually dominated by nokias and some other brands. high-end ads, however, see a large aray of SE's, nokias, samsungs, treos, etc.

the only important thing to me is that SE is profitable, thus enabling it to continue producng the type of devices we all love them for. who cares if nokia sells more. besides, you don't see mclaren trying to compete with toyota for higher sales figures do you? and i know which of the two i'd rather have...

@miklsp:u r right. But if we look hard enough,i think we'll find this kind of reports too. @seninha: haha of course,if u mention the 'toyota' thing in the '2100 thread' (i think is in general or other manufacturers),they'll think u r just like the nokia phones..'cheap',that is:-D good point man! The stats are still interesting, in that they do indeed show that SE is competing in the mid-high end of the market. I suppose cameraphones generally tend to represent the up-market phones, and also the segment that SE are aiming for according to their goal of being the "number one player in mobile multimedia products within 5 years" (as of Oct 2001).

I was quite surprised that they have as much as 26% of the market, when I'm used to seeing figures around the 5% mark for overall handset sales worldwide, but it's reasuring to see that in their target market they are doing as well as this. The figures certainly tie in with the number of T610s that I see being used on the streets here in UK.

As lower end phones start to ship with cameras (especially Nokias), I expect that SE's cameraphone market share will fall, unless SE manage to bring out a spectacular entry-level phone with camera.
