Hi, I was just wondering if Ericsson/Sony Ericsson had ever made a satellite phone? I think I read something a few years back saying that they had...
Also, has anyone here ever had a satellite phone?
I've heard that mainly they're only used by leaders of large countries (e.g. US) and News Reporters...

The R290 was for Globalstar.
Ericsson still works in the satellite business but SonyEricsson doesn't.
One of the more succesful satellite companies out there is Thuraya and they use Ericsson infrastructure. Thuraya has close to 200,000 subscribers, mainly in the middle east. This what the terminals looks like:
