Could this phone kill the P900? Surely it's in a differnent league? The P900 is a smart phone and this SO505i looks like a standard phone with some very nice touches. If it can do everything the P900 does then it could well be it's replacement.

[NOTE: This phone will never be sold in Europe or North American, and will not work on networks outside of Japan. We post it here purely as an object to lust after.... And besides, we can always hope that somebody uses the design in a device that will be introduced in non-Japanese markets later. -editor]
It is not a P900 killer at all. My brother got a Docomo from japan too, it is a clamshell and it has got a 0.3 camera (in those days there are no 0.3 camera) and MS Duo support. But outside japan, the phone practically becomes a 0.3 camera and ringtone player.
GSM phones do not function in Japan either, if i am not wrong, that was what my brother told me. so, P900 is not in Japan either. So, it is not a P900 killer yet, until SE uses the same device and make it GSM-enabled.

According to Vodafone I can roam in Japan, seeing how Vodafone is a GSM network why would their phones support roaming in CDMA only networks? Btw here in NZ I do have a CDMA provider, if I was to buy that phone would it work in New Zealand?

Sorry for the confusion if any.
My brother said that there are no simcard in the phone. Atleast, they are not exchangeable. They may be using GSM or CDMA, but once they terminate a line in Japan, your phone will not be usable anymore. Usually, they throw it away, but some use it for camera and ringtone player. So when you buy the phone, you have to buy a line. When you go out of Japan, I think you will not be able to change the sim card, so they only way is through roaming (if any), which is expensive. Same goes when you bring it to NZ.

No Sim Card = CDMA
I will do some more research on this, esp now since my T610 got one too many cycles in the washing machine(forgot it was in the pant pocket).
