Unable to activate T9 input system on new "gold" T68. "Input Method" is greyed out under SMS Write New Options menu. Selecting "input method" responds with "currently unavailable".

try this, start writing a new SMS and then hold down the * button... this normally activates/de-activates T9

select language first (from the same menu) then choose ENGLISH. you'll notice that the input method is no longer greyed out! i hope this helps. it works with my phone.

Appreciate your feedback. Under the language menu, only three selections are shown, Chinese, abc..., and 123... -- currently set to abc. While writing a new SMS message, depressng the * doesn't do anything. # switches between "Chinese", "abc", and "123". My previous 6210 also had these three settings, but included a "T9" fuzzy input capability. Sadly, it appear Ericsson may have chosen to leave this very useful capability out

Gooms is right, first try selecting "english" under language then "Input Method" "T9" will be enabled, or select "chinese" language if you dont have english for that matter

btw where did you get the phone? Hongkong? cause I dont have Chinese in language selection, I only have English, abc, 123.

I don't know if this is how you did it, but try the following:

Set the input-language under language found in the SETTINGS menu. Choose your prefered language and then activate T9 under the same language menu. You can have many different input-languages at once, T9 chooses the one currently active.

Remember, that if you haven't done these settings, it doesn't matter what you do in the OPTIONS-MENU when writing a new SMS.

For the T68MC which is the chinese version, there is no T9 option. Apparently, it is the same issue with the T39. Hope this helps.

Interesting... box and phone only say T68, no "MC" indicated. If this is the case, I will check with Ericsson and see what they have to say.

Obviously for any Chinese version, there is no T9 English input, no matter it is quoted with -mc or not.
