Hiya all

OK as im fairly new to this, I needed to ask a couple of quick Q's please to all those who know a little about creating movies on the P900

I use PV Author

NB. I cannot test the results on the P900 mine STILL hasnt arrived LOL

I encoded a test AVI file and I used the following settings.......

Bandwidth: Custom Bitrate: 124000 (108kb Video + 16Kb AAC)
Codec: Audio AAC 16.00Kbps, 22.05kHz Mono
Video PV MP4 @ 192x144 @ 15FPS

............ and the resulting file was 94 megs in size

I then changed the custom rate to 140000 and increased the ACC to 22.05kbps STEREO and this increased the file size around 10 megs

Now I KNOW the P900 doesnt have stereo built in speakers, how about headphones?

Is there any reason to encode in stereo for a better audio?

Im just trying to find the right settings to use to give the best quality picture and audio so any help appreciated!

(Can u encode straight from a DVD BTW and if not what would I need to do first, I have around 300 movies to share heheheh)

Chris

The best thing to do is get something like DVDDECRYPTER or SMARTRIPPER to rip the dvd in question which will give you an ifo and vob files

Then use DVDX or similar to convert the ifo and vob files to avi or mpeg

Then use PVAUTHOR,MPEGABLE or QUICKTIME to convert the avi or mpeg to mp4 or 3gp

Your better off using mono to save the file size the mono audio can be heard in left and right of the headphones

AS a guide for audio go for 32k/bit 16bit 22050khz mono

Just encoded my first small mp4.
Gone Nutty for IceAge.
After the usual extract and convert to AVI process.
Encoded the MP4 at 220kbits Video, and 36kbit 16bit Stereo Audio (22khz) at a size of 176X144 - Turned out fine - not perfect, the odd pause here and there - but most def watchable.
