Hi guys!

I just got a P900 myself, and am loving every second of it! Having lots of fun playing around with it, and also looking for stuff to download for it...

I've got a problem though, and I just wondered if anyone else encountered this problem too. Everytime whenever I enter an area which doesn't have network coverage (I'm on O2, oh, and I didn't mention I'm in the UK), my phone drops the signal, and when I come out to an area where I know there is network coverage, my dear P900 refuses to pick up the signal again! I did a manual network search, and the search list which appears is empty...it doesn't seem to want to detect any networks.

In another instance, I entered a building and lost network coverage, and my phone latched on to T-mobile (I guess they have quite a good cover to be able to be detected in a building underground!). My phone then went into 'emergency calls only'. After I exited that building, my phone stayed on T-mobile and once again a search for networks was unable to detect any other networks except for T-mobile! This problem has occured everytime something like this happens.

I have exchanged my handset with O2 and gotten a new one, and this one does the same thing too! I have two other friends who have also obtained their P900s from O2, and their handsets do the same thing. I wonder if this is a generic problem with the phone, or just a problem with O2's shipment?

My only solution to this so far was to switch the phone off and on again. It can't be the best way to solve this though! Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Has anyone else encountered something like this? Thanks, and I look forward to seeing everyone's feedback!

@ chickenfeather

It's usual for whether P800 nor P900. It's not a fault on the handset. However there has been discussions that it'll be much stable after flashing to a newer firmware.

@vampy

So it's a known problem? I was a bit worried...what do you do to get over this? It's a bit of a nuisance to switch the phone off and on each time, and especially if you don't even know that the phone has lost its signal - this would prevent calls from getting through!

p/s you knew the meaning to my nick!

I suppose you're from Malaysia or around there! Anyway, don't worry too much about the signal bar as it won't loose reception completly until the stage of not receiving your calls unless you're out of reception area.

I haven't encountered this myself however I assume a way around switching it off would be to stick it into flight mode and then back into normal mode.
This should force it to try and find a signal again
