I have tried every combination of connecting my Sony Clie (Palm 5) to the P900 via BlueTooth without success.

Firstly I can browse the web and collect email using gprs (O2 Mobileweb connection) with no problems whatsoever.

I configured the Palm with a new connection to the P900 called "Bluetooth gprs"
Connect to: Modem
Via: Bluetooth
Device:myp900
Dialling: TouchTone
and under details
Speed:115,200bps
Flow Ctrl:Automatic
nothing under Init String

Under Network I then setup a service called O2 gprs
Username: o2web
Password: o2web
Connection to: Bluetooth gprs
Phone#: *99#
and under details
Connection Type: PPP
Idle Timeout: Never
Query DNS is ticked
IP Address is ticked

I then connect and use Network Log to see the communications and I get :

Service Name O2 gprs
Local IP: 10.202.198.199
Gateway: 10.202.198.198
DNS: 193.113.200.200
193.113.200.201

I then ping 193.113.200.200 and get a positive reply.

I then ping www.bbc.co.uk and it resolves the DNS correctly but I then get
Error timeout (0x1212):time=0ms

This happens for every hostname that I try pinging.

The strange thing is that I was able to SEND an email out through smtp.o2.co.uk using the Palm email but cannot receive or browse the web.
The Palm and P900 have a bluetooth trust with a passkey.
When asking the Palm to connect it shows all the correct screens of negotiating etc.
If I try using GSM and dialling up my 0845 ISP it connects fine and sends and receives email perfectly so it's something to do with gprs.

Any ideas before I throw it all out the window in anguish?

Thanks all

Steve

Part 2

I have now managed to get the web browser to browse web pages and the email will still send emails, however the email program still refuses to talk to the POP3 servers even though the P900 in standalone mode will collect email with no problems.

Has everyone else had problems getting their P900 to act as a gprs modem with a laptop of PDA?
