hi guys im sorry to say but you where right, i went to a phone shop today and asked a guy who has knowledge on SE phones......
he told me that the case that SE phones reception signal bars are jumping/sensitive is because SE phones refreshes/updates the signal very often, more often then other brands.

The signal issue. I have a T610 on O2 UK and the signal is always full. It never goes below 4 bars and rarely flickers

There's a thread on here somewhere that suggests that upgrading a T610 to RC3 firmware stops the bars jumping around quite so much! They reduced the refresh rate, I presume...
Maybe that's why your T610 seems steadier than ours, do you have RC3?
EDIT: Dana, the guy in the shop is right!! He's not lying and neither are we! Maybe when they release the next firmware upgrade for your phone, they
MIGHT, repeat
MIGHT reduce the update rate for the signal meter

no no the guy told me SE did this on purpuse just to have a fair signal strengh.... if it doesnt refresh that often then you wont have a fair signal meter... like nokia he said... nokia is refreshing late... and then you never 'know the REAL signal strengh like you can on SE

So if it's not that the refresh rate has been reduced in RC3 and I admit that I don't know this for sure, it only leaves one other explaination.
He gets a very strong signal all of the time. That's down to his location and network provider, not his phone.
Those of us who's signal meters do jump around don't get a strong signal all of the time. Again, that's nothing to do with our phones being faulty, it's the network providers and our location.

Now it IS possible to have a steady signal all the time.
Let's take my workplace for example. We have a Vodafone and a T Mobile sending station on our roof.
So obviously, us inside the building will have full, non-fluctuating signal at all times.
Now when I go home, i do not have anything on my roof (rather obviously) and my signal fluctuates a lot more coz it refreshes it's siganl connection with the nearest tower, which is a bit further away then the one at work.
Simple as that. It re-reads the connection witht the further away tower and decides i have 4 bars signal at home. I think this'reading' is the actual drop in signal to 2 or 3 bars.
Now I for obne vote we let the subject rest now. his is the foruth thread and I for one think all has been said by now.
