What are one supposed to respond. Sorry about your lost messages...
But isn't "hate

" going a bit too far? A tip to the next time is to copy the most important messages to your SIM card. Then you can read them in any phone you use

Sorry for you but I don't have this with my Z600 althought I didn't change it with another SIM card, I just took it off used on a P800 and then back in my Z600 and the message ( non stored on the SIM card ) are still there

lol, relax. It's funny how important txt messages have become to people. I mean, IF they were that important why didn't you have the sense to back them up.
But still, it's funny how serious people can become about txt messages. I remember on old phones when you could only store 10, you had to delete them, or maybe save one or two... What did you do then???
Ah well, enjoy your nokia, i'm sure it will satisfy your texting needs, although it's funny how I store a good few thousand txts on my p800... and soon to be p900....

But this error is so basic.. So why does it exist?

A phone that you have spent all that money should not erase your messages when you take the battery out.. Why not use the dynamic memory instead?? I don't get it..

Yes it is a security feature. If you change SIMs on the phone, it is normally because the phone is stolen or you sold it to someone else. Would you like your private SMS messages to your girlfriend to be read by some thief or stranger ?
So if you change SIMs, you lose the SMS on the phone.
The only way to really save an SMS is to "Save to SIM" and save it on your SIM card.

Am I the only one who knows that sms's I don't care about I erase from the inbox, and others I store on the simcard ???
Instead of blaming SE for your troubles go do your homework !
Lol, if you phone was stolen (presuming it was a Nokia), and the person changed the SIM and then started harrasing your fiance because it kept the number how would you feel ?
Besides, an sms is a digital numeric code which tells the phone where to put a black pixels representing letters and to leave empty spaces blank. So foolish to get pissed at a phone for such a small thing, even if the phone had a backup feature... OMG !
