> P900 PC Suite contacting Big Brother?
Bookmark topic
I've noticed that when I try and sync my P900 with PC Suite I need to let my firewall give internet access to various

programs. These are the programs (copied and pasted from PC suite readme.txt):
mRouterRuntime MFC Application (mRouterRuntime.exe)
Phone Connection Monitor Application (audevicemgr.exe)
SCRFS Module (SCRFS.exe)
DXP SyncML Module (DXP SyncML.exe)
BroadCast Proxy Module (BroadcastProxy.exe)
CapMan Module (CapMan.exe)
ArchiveManager Module (ArchiveManagerServer.exe)
Why the hell do these programs need internet acess? Throughout a file transfer from my PC to my P900 I can see there is continual two-way internet traffic. Is the P900 contacting Big Brother?? As soon as I break my internet connection, the file transfer fails.
I can think of absolutely no reason why transferring a file from my PC to my P900 would require any kind of internet traffic. Anyone have any ideas? It's not some kind of digital rights management scheme is it??

Bluetooth uses TPC/IP to work its magic. This may be why you are seeing network activity.

Well I'm not using Bluetooth, just the USB cable. However, I guess that could also be using TCP/IP...

SE's PC Suite s/w uses TCP/IP to communicate between the Pxxx and the PC, this is why one can use Opera over BT linked to a PC that is connected to the internet to surf using the PC's internet connection.
If you did not uninstall you firewall before installing PC Suite you may have difficulties linking to your phone.
