Hy guys,
I am considering renewing my T610 and Palm Tungsten T.
Could you help me figure out whether I should by a new bluetooth gprs phone and a Palm Tungsten T3, or go for the P900?
I mean, good reasons, apart from the fact that it is a SE, of course.
More specifically, could you give me input on these points:
- The Symbian OS: better or worse than the Palm software?
- Can you edit / create / view from attachment MS word, excel and powerpoint files?
- Can you draw 'notes' (on the screen, with the stylus)?
- How's the contacts managment?
- Same Q for the diary?
- How does the writing thingee work?
Thanks a lot to those who'll answer!
Cheers

I will my best to explain my views. I used to use a Clie NR70 with a Nokia 6310i.
1. OS - Symbian is better because it manages memory better (ie internal & memory card) and I like the multi-tasking (ie listen to MP3 while surfing etc)
2. For edit/view you need to buy Quick Office for UIQ. No support for PowerPoint.
3. UIQ is not as good as Agendus / Datebook. However, a early version of Agendus is available for UIQ.
4. The hand writing recognition is fine, prefer to Palm Graffiti 1.
Overall you need to remember that the issue is portability - I would never carry both the Nokia and Clie everywhere. I love the ability to keep checking email on the P900 and WAP browsing (I never found a good WAP browser on the Palm).
Also remeber, keyboards for the P900 as also available - Pocketop and Stoway (both beta).

Jah...
Is there not a viewer on the phone for MS word documents...
Also, am I not right in saying that in the lead up to the P900, the ability to both view and edit Word/Excel/Powerpoint files was meant to be included...I wonder what they did with this, if only they had kept it... bit silly being able to have email attachments if you can't look at the damn things, without buying extra software...
...
It is a bonus though, being able to have the amount of information the P900 can contain, with you wherever you go in one compact device, which you can disguise as a phone as well!
I have mentioned this to others, and it now sounds like a motto of mine, but the Handspring Treo 600 (PalmOS) receives warm praise from Palm converts... Whilst the XDA 2 (PPC) is liked by many across the board... depends what you want from what you intend to buy...

I just was in the same situation.. I opted for a Tungsten C... As i find web browsing over bluetooth and gprs costly and slow... Plus I've moved to america where GSM coverage is @#$% and rare also where wifi is more common...
I was really dissapointed with my Tungsten T, it froze a lot, Graffiti wasn't that impressive, and bluetooth implementation was poor. Worst of all the battery life was horrible.
However I am really impressed with the Tungsten C, the Wifi is good and fast, keyboard is good, Graffiti 2 is a huge improvement (based on Jot) and I can write anywhere on the screen. Battery life is good as well, which is suprising considering how normally WiFi sucks out tons of battery... The only complain is I like the metal feel of the tungsten t vs. the tungsten c's plastic outer shell...
So why did I not opt for a p800/p900. I by no means hate the devices... I have started in awe many hours as their amazing-ness... However I figured there was still life in my t610, and I had already invested in some palm apps. I'm not to keen on the way Symbian organizes apps (although it has made an improvement in UIQ from Series 60). There is no Wifi, but you have direct gprs so that would not really pose a problem...
So in the end anyway in the end I opted for the palm... take it with a grain of salt
