I want to use my T616 as a BC scanner... Can I do this using IrDa? Any ideas?
The concept is to be able to scan product codes when doing inventory because my company is too cheap to buy one of those nice wireless inventory jobs!

Please help!

there is a barcode scanner available to plug into the systemconnector. Don't know anyone who's selling them though.

The irda port could in fact be used as a very inefficient barcode scanner. It would be totally crap though, so theres no point. Interesting idea though, cos it is possible.

It's not even remotely possible, sorry. Unless It's escaped your attention, barcode scanners use lasers. There's a reason why those hand held units are expensive. This message was posted from a T68i

T616 in a P800/P900 forum. I have extensive knowledge in barcode technology to tell you that you'd be wasting your time.. However interesting you think your idea may sound its already been explored. Hence the reason for CF card b-code scanners, BT b-code scanners, wi-fi b-code scanners, etc... The amount of information that you would have extrapolate from the barcode symbol is far beyond feasible strategically.. Compliance is the key issue..

To those of you who helped, I thank you!
To those of you who had nothing informative or helpful to say, I truly hope that all of your far feched questions get equally callous and unsupportive responses. Furthermore, far be it from any of you to pass such judgement and cruelty upon those who think beyond the scope of this forum's common dialogue. Limit yourselves as you will, but why force your limitations upon others?
