> Review of the T610 in USA
Bookmark topic
Ok here goes.
Alot of the Forums pull the T610 down for not holding on the signals especialy in the USA. So as i have just been to the USA (Florida) i thought i would give you a reveiw. But i also took a Nokia 7250i and the SE T68i to give the T610 a fair chance.
I had access to T-Mobile and AT&T Wirless (Cingular works on the 850mhz freq which none of these phones support)
I used the phones for making calls, SMS, Wap (GPRS) Email (GPRS, T610 and t68i only supports this) and MMS (GPRS)
I took a Orange and Virgin Sim (Virgin doesnt have any GPRS at all so Wap and MMS Was not AVA)
What did supprise me was the results i got.
T68i: This was quite poor in all areas of using the services on the phone. The quality of the signal would change very rapidly even when i was stood and the voice quality of the calls were shocking. Sms would send most of the times and Sending MMS was not very good at all (I gave up sending them). The T68i was also the first phone that would loose a signal too even when the others had one.
Now this is what the supprise was. And yes its true.
The T610 was better than the 7250i in holding and getting signals.
Both of the phones performed excellant.
Voice quality was second to none as a couple of my firends though i was at home in the uk when calling them.
No Problems with SMS 100% record of sending them on both phones
and wap (Gprs) was good.
This is where the T610 started to win the Nokia.
Senidng MMS on the T610 was quicker and out of the 30 sent only 2 failed.
The 7250i only managed to send 4 MMS out of 25 sent.
Another thing that did supprise me was that the T610 could hold onto a singnal longer than the 7250i and found the network much faster when they both lost the signal.
Both of the phones were used in the same places and messages, call, were to all the same numbers in the uk.
If you want any more info then please let me know.
Sorry if the review is a bit long winded.
Hope this helps people here in the UK and the US on purchasing the phone.
When i was in florida, I was unable to purchase the 7250i as at present was not released. The T610 was ava on all of the above networks and the T616 on Cingular.
One thing i do need to mention is the quality of the networks in the US.
The networks in the US (Florida) do not have the same standard of coverage as in the UK and both networks are extremely patchy. This is not to say the networks are poor. I was in the US 2 years ago and the coverage has vastly improved.
However Coverage in Buldings, Malls and Theme Parks were poor to none (both Networks) and some areas would have only one of the networks.
I couldnt realy say which network was best as i think they were both about the same.
One thing that i couldnt stop laughing at tho. I Was on one side of the street the phone would pick T-Mobile up, Cross over the road and it would swap to At&t Wireless and vice versa again when crossing over.
Happy Holiday and a Merry Christmas to you all
